Siesta Key is regularly ranked as one of the best beaches in the U.S., often outranking every other beach in Florida.
Certainly, if you’re looking for a wild Spring Break scene… or lots of scantily clad women… you’re unlikely to find them on Siesta Key.
While southern Florida is more about hedonism and night-life, Siesta Key is more about quality family vacations… a more laid-back pace… a place where you can truly relax.
Your feet will love the sugar-soft sand and your skin will love the salty sea breeze that blows in from the Gulf. It’s truly beautiful.
And here’s something else you’ll love:
Siesta Key is only an hour or two south of most of the major theme parks. This is another reason why Siesta Key is so family-friendly. You can hop in a car and take a day trip to Busch Gardens, Disney World, Sea World, or anywhere in the Tampa/Orlando/Kissimmee area.
My wife and I took our kids down to Siesta Key a few years ago. We would spend a couple days on the beach, then go to an amusement park. Spend a couple more days at the beach, then go out again.
We stayed for 7 days. And by breaking up our day trips we were still able to have a lot of fun without feeling burnt-out by a multi-day amusement park marathon.
If you do plan to check out Siesta Key (and see for yourself whether or not it’s the best beach in Florida), then check out flights into Tampa, Orlando, and Fort Myers. Since Siesta Key is so centrally located, you can price shop to get the best rate on your flight.
And one more thing, in case you’re wondering… Fortunately (thank God), the BP Gulf Oil spill of Spring 2010 did not affect Siesta Key. So the white sand beaches are just as pristine as they’ve always been.
P.S. We have a family-owned condo on Siesta Key at the Sarasota Surf and Racquet Club. The pictures you see on this site are of that condo. Complete the form on the side of this page for more information about our condo availability and rates. Thanks!
